Nelson teen starts charity to give kids sporting chance

When Jack Morris​ carried a bag full of sports balls into Victory Primary School it was seconds before it had been upturned and the sounds of play rang out.


“It’s great”, the 17-year-old said, beaming as he watched children bouncing balls, shooting hoops and running around.

Morris, a year 13 Nelson College student, is the owner of new charity Playback​ – a business that collects old sports equipment and redistributes it to children who can use it.

“Every year sporting goods are given as birthday and Christmas presents, children outgrow sporting gear or change sports codes. All of this old sporting equipment is often left lying around the garage of people's homes,” he said.
