During one week each November, GEW aims to inspire individuals around the world to explore their entrepreneurial potential through a range of local, national and global activities.

The premiere event of GEW is the DECA Idea Challenge and kicks off on November 10, 2016. It is a fast-paced competition that challenges student teams around the world to find an innovative new use for a commonplace item. Last year’s competition challenged students to re-invent cardboard boxes, with winning ideas including custom designed pallets, sun shelters, and eco-blinds.

To participate in 2016, students need to:

  • Form a team of three to five members
  • Access the challenge on November 10
  • Collaborate as a team to produce an original and sustainable use for the item
  • Pitch their invention in a 3 minute Youtube video
