Groups and classes of girls at the school gave a gold coin donation to have their picture taken in front of the silk flower, 2 metre by 2.4 metre wall the business group of year 13 students plans to hire out to weddings, birthdays and other special events.

Flo.Co's finance spokeswoman Leah McGrath recently returned from a whirlwind four-and-a-half day excursion to San Francisco she won in July with the Young Enterprise Trust's annual Enterprise in Action event held in Auckland.

One of six secondary students chosen from 80 for the trip, the packed schedule had McGrath talking with Kiwi Vaughan Smith, who is Facebook's vice-president of corporate development, as well as visiting NZTE, along with tech networking company Kiwi Landing Pad, and Xero.

The tour also took in a veritable who's who of Silicon Valley, including Apple, the Microsoft Technology Center, Tesla, Instagram, FedEx, eBay, Uber and Stanford University.

When she learned she had been selected for the trip McGrath said "there were lots of tears. Tears of happiness".

As for flower walls, when Flo.Co were researching the business at the beginning of the year, McGrath said they spotted a gap in the market.

They found a Chinese company called the Wall Flower Company, which designs, makes, markets and hires walls through Auckland.
