The Young Enterprise Trust is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to inspiring and empowering young people to discover their entrepreneurial potential. Through our innovative programmes and events, we help students from all backgrounds develop the skills, confidence and mindset to succeed in the modern economy. With over 40 years of experience, we are a respected leader in youth entrepreneurship education, working with schools, businesses and communities across New Zealand.

About the Role

As the YES Regional Coordinator, you’ll be at the forefront of the Young Enterprise Scheme (YES), a nationwide initiative empowering secondary school students to establish and run their own businesses.

In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with students, teachers, and stakeholders across the Greater Wellington and Tairāwhiti regions. You’ll be working alongside teachers as they deliver the YES programme, inspiring students to develop entrepreneurial mindsets and practical business skills. You’ll also engage with local mentors and businesses to foster a robust support network for students.

While based in our Wellington head office (YES HQ), this role includes regular overnight travel to Gisborne as part of your work in the Tairāwhiti region.

Key Responsibilities of Role

The role is a multi-faceted role as is necessary to support so many internal functions. 

  • Coordinate and deliver the YES programme in your regions.
  • Mentor and guide students in their entrepreneurial journeys, helping them develop real-world business skills.
  • Support teachers in implementing the YES programme within their schools.
  • Organize and facilitate events such as Trade Fairs and pitch challenges.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, mentors, and community stakeholders.
  • Secure sponsorship and funding to support the sustainability of the programme.

This role reports to our Head of YES however this is a relatively self lead role that works collaboratively with the YES HQ team. 

About You

You’re driven, organised, and excited about working with young people and educators to inspire the next generation of business leaders. Ideally, you bring:

  • A collaborative mindset and ability to work     effectively with students, teachers, and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including confidence in public speaking and clear, professional writing.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, this is a multi-faceted role and the ability to prioritise is critical - ensuring deadlines are met, and events run     smoothly.
  • A passion for youth development, education, and business.
  • Experience or interest in event coordination, programme management, or education.
  • A full driver’s license and flexibility for regular travel, including overnight stays.

Operations & Events Coordinator

The Operations & Events Coordinator is part of the team that is the engine that runs our charity.  The purpose of this role (and team) is to provide support to all aspects of the business as well as to our external stakeholders.  It’s a bit customer service, a bit logistics, a bit events and a bit operations all in one.  No two days are the same.  This role suits someone who likes variety, is a team player and wants to be part of a national charity with a clear purpose.

The role is a multi-faceted role as is necessary to support so many internal functions.

  • Customer Service
  • System Support
  • Logistical Support
  • Event Support
  • Communication & Marketing Support
  • Administration Support

The Operations and Events Coordination team has an overall team leader that takes responsibility for ensuring the team is working collaboratively with each other and that all tasks are managed efficiently and effectively.

A successful candidate must have:
  • Proficient computer skills – in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Customer service experience
It would be useful if the candidate has:
  • Experience with databases or CRM systems
  • Computer skills with Adobe Design Suite, Mailchimp, Canva and /or Survey Monkey
  • Web administration experience with a Content Management System
