YES head Leah MacDonell said the launch, which would include a one-hour speedcoaching session, was intended to help students form ideas of what products or services they might want to take to market.

“They set up a real business and then run it throughout the school year. I think that’s what surprises most people, that it’s a real business. “Businesses are set up throughout each of the four terms of the school year and participants get to keep most of the money they make.

“They give back 25 percent of their profits to the region, so they set up the company, market it and then take the product to market.”
