The entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well in Mackenzie district as three students solved and age-old farming problem.
Amy Hay, Luke Jordan and Hamish Ryall, from Mackenzie College, and their FrostEase company, which designs and manufactures a product which stops water in farm troughs freezing in winter, won three awards at the Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme (Yes) Regional Finals at the Ara Institute of Canterbury Timaru campus recently.
FrostEase won company of the year with the students receiving $1000 prize money and South Canterbury Young Enterprise Scheme trophy for 2021, the South Canterbury Chamber of Commerce Innovation and Originality Award and one of 13 National Excellence Awards.
The students were also awarded a $1000 scholarship each to Massey University.
