Our Northland Young Enterprise Scheme students had their Trade Fair on Saturday August 12th at The Old Packhouse Market in Kerikeri.

It was incredible to see the range of innovative and thoughtful products and services on display! Students were encouraged to market their business and sell products at their stalls, while competing for awards throughout the event.

Top Energy YES Northland Trade Fair Presence Award

This accolade recognized not only the business concept but also the presentation, engagement, and overall impression made on the judges. The winners of this prestigious award were Sail Inc. from Kerikeri High School.

Sail Inc., a sail training school for teenagers, left a lasting impact with their excellent presentation, informative promotional materials, enthusiastic engagement, and an in-depth understanding of their business.

Kick Clean from Whangarei Boys' High School secured 2nd place. Their innovative shoe cleaning system garnered attention due to live demonstrations, friendly engagement, and the convenience of EFTPOS payment. The judges were impressed by their knowledge and dedication.

Out of the Blue, also from Whangarei Boys' High School, claimed 3rd place with their venture into men's intimate hygiene products, aptly named 'Ball Balm'. Their effort in sales, passionate presentation, and courageous approach made them stand out in the competition.

The judges also gave special shout-outs to Him Her Skyn, Sector 2 Coasters, Shootin' Star, Breaking Point, Ritz Rugs, Mapi Rongoa, Topu Whawhau, and Kihi Mai.

Customer Choice Award

Sail Inc. were once again recognised with the Customer Choice Award, which mirrored the judges' sentiments.

New World Voucher Recipients

Adding a touch of excitement to the event, vouchers were donated by New World (Kerikeri) as an incentive for attendees to purchase and a hook to help our young entrepreneurs to sell their products and services. The lucky recipients were Seda Naden and Karl Bishop.

The event was a collaborative effort, and its success wouldn't have been possible without the dedication of several individuals. Aimee and Sam lent their expertise as judges. Megan Prendergast played a crucial role in the event's setup, pack down, preparation, and follow-up. Jacqui Larkan, Ian Musson, and Seda Naden contributed to the pack down process, while Warwick and Judy Hyland were gracious hosts.
