YES teams awarded MYD funding
Seven companies received money from a fund totalling $121,000. We are very proud that two these companies were developed through The Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme (YES).
Flatpak, founded through YES in 2013, receive $7,000 to help them continue growing. Flatpak offer durable storage solutions for transporting equipment safely on quad bikes - helping to prevent quad bike accidents and keep farmers (and their cargo) safe. Flatpak CEO, Emily Tasker, has recently been doing a promotional road trip - you can check out her blog here.
O’le’lei Yo, who won the Todd Corporation Award for joint 3rd Place at YES National Awards in 2015, receive $1,500. This will go towards producing more of their amazing almond milk yoghurt, which is free of dairy, gluten, sugar, preservatives and additives and is the first of its kind in New Zealand! They are still studying at Henderson High School in Auckland and are continuing with O'le'lei Yo through YES this year.
The Opportunities for Young People funding comes from the Youth Enterprise Fund, which also supports our Young Enterprise ‘Roaming Teacher’ initiative, helping to get our YES teachers school-based support across more the country. We are, as ever, incredibly grateful to Hon. Nikki Kaye and the Ministry of Youth Development for the support they continue to give us and the work they enable us to do.
