"We won the first challenge, so we'll win this one too," student Matthew Andreassend, 18, said.

The YES, a nationwide competition which runs throughout the year, includes four challenges, with the second one known as 'The Pitch'. Each is worth points, and at the end, the regional team with the most points will go to the national final, held in Wellington.

Andreassend, and teammates Lauren Cowan and Zoe Harding, both 17, are the members of the bath bomb team, which came out on top in the first challenge, involving deciding on a product and a marketing strategy. Their scents include berry, vanilla, and lavender leaves, with a 'shower bomb' idea being considered, the team said.

The idea is that they do all the research, product development and marketing," teacher Murray Kuperus said.

'The Pitch', on Thursday, will see teams present their ideas to a panel of three judges, who each have $150 to give away - either all to one team, or split between two or three. This will go towards them furthering their product for the next stage.
