Young Enterprise, New Zealand’s leading national entrepreneurial education charity, is proud to announce it has been selected as the official charity partner for the inaugural The Duke of Edinburgh Cup New Zealand Qualifier Tournament, to be held at Royal Wellington Golf Club on Friday 8 May 2026.
The Duke of Edinburgh Cup is one of the world’s most respected amateur charity golf tournaments, bringing together players, partners and supporters to raise funds for youth-focused initiatives in host countries. Founded in 2000 by the late HRH Prince Philip, the then Duke of Edinburgh, the tournament has a long-standing global legacy and supports local impact through funds raised at each event.
For Young Enterprise, this partnership will help strengthen entrepreneurial education opportunities for rangatahi across Aotearoa. For 45 years, YES has supported young people to develop entrepreneurial capability through hands-on learning experiences designed to build confidence, creativity, communication, financial literacy and a strong sense of agency.
“Becoming the charity partner for The Duke of Edinburgh Cup New Zealand is a powerful opportunity to back young people with the skills and mindset to thrive,” says Alex Bullot, Chief Executive of Young Enterprise. “Entrepreneurial learning is life learning, and this partnership will help us reach more rangatahi with programmes that turn ideas into action and open doors to future pathways.”
The Duke of Edinburgh Cup New Zealand Qualifier is delivered in partnership with Royal Wellington Golf Club and Golf New Zealand, with the aim of creating a world-class tournament experience while contributing to initiatives that support young New Zealanders.
As part of the global The Duke of Edinburgh Cup pathway, winners of the New Zealand qualifier will be invited to attend The Duke of Edinburgh Cup World Finals in England in late September 2026, featuring competitive rounds at renowned courses and a Gala Prize Giving Dinner in Windsor Castle with a senior member of the Royal Family in attendance
