The duo are part of the Hauora Collective, which created water drops to act as a “convenient and healthy substitute” for caffeinated drinks and energy drinks.

The business is part of the Young Enterprise Scheme (YES), a nationwide learn-by-doing programme and competition, with students setting up and running a real business.

The South Canterbury Chamber of Commerce co-ordinates YES for the region, and its regional co-ordinator Kaitlin Clews said the challenges were a wonderful opportunity for students to network and learn on a national stage.

“In 2024 we have 67 students from local schools and also remotely, they make up 25 teams,” Clews said.

“I would like to thank our wonderful sponsor The Todd Mudie Group for their unerring dedication to the YES, without this support it would not be possible to run this valuable programme – encouraging innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership.

“We are seeking additional sponsors with packages starting from just $1k, so please reach out to the Chamber if you’d like to help our potential business leaders’ growth and development.”

This year over 5000 students were participating in the Young Enterprise Programme.

The duo from Craighead would be joined by Sebastien Booth from Mt Hutt College.

A media release from the Chamber said all three students believed EIA would help them to grow their business skills and build leadership experience to ensure their businesses were successful.

They were looking forward to meeting the company hosts and other YES Students who shared their passion for business.

The event was held from July 7 in Wellington.
