This resource helps students to learn about different banking products and services and ways to access them securely for their own financial needs. Using this knowledge they will select products and services suitable for a personal financial situation. It also helps teachers deliver the Financial Capability Unit Standard 28097 ‘Explain and select banking products and services in relation to personal finances’ (Level 2, 3 Credits).

Financial Capability is a core generic domain on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework. This unit of work also has links to the Social Sciences and Mathematics and Statistics learning areas.

Students will:

  • Learn about safety and security with banking products and services
  • Select banking products and services that are suitable for a personal financial situation
  • Complete practice activities for an assessment
