Start Up* (Coming 2025)

Start Up takes your students on an entrepreneurial journey to learn how to make a difference through business. They will work in groups to plan and run a sustainable and financially viable business that makes a positive impact environmentally, socially or culturally.

Through Start­ Up, students will:

  • IDEATE - come up with a purpose-driven business idea
  • PLAN – make decisions on how to bring their business idea to market
  • SELL - sell their product or service at a market
  • REFLECT - reflect on what they have learnt and what impact they have made.

 

Curriculum links

Start Up provides a rich learning context for Level 1 Commerce. It relates to all of the big ideas and areas of significant learning in the Commerce Learning Matrix.

It includes an assessment for AS92029 (Price Determination) and can be used to help prepare students for AS92031 (Financial Viability).

Start Up can also be used as part of a non-NCEA Year 11 learning programme.
